As of March 1st, the Wall Street Journal Americas has chosen US Media Consulting to be its only representative for the Florida, Mexico and the Caribbean markets. US Media Consulting will be opening offices in Mexico City to implement the sales force responsible for promoting the newspaper to local agencies and clients. Its Miami headquarters will manage Wall Street Journal Americas sales and global sales responsibilities for the Caribbean market.
During the last 8 years, WSJ has been a successful product in these markets, generating millions of dollars in ad sales from hundreds of clients. The Caribbean's tourism boards alone invest approximately US$30 million a year in United States media, making it an important market to reach out to. Global sales for Mexico and the Caribbean will include all the Wall Street Journal products, such as WSJ online properties and WSJ magazine.
The business world recognizes the importance of the Wall Street Journal in both print and online in terms of bringing influential decision makers the latest information in business and finance. Moreover, that has now expanded to WSJ, a luxury magazine that broadened the appeal of the paper. The magazine has been so successful that it went from being a quarterly magazine to a bi-monthly one. In addition, the US circulation of the magazine went from 800,000 in 2009 to 1.5 million this year. According to Prada's advertising director, "There is no magazine out there causing such a stir...every publishing house who walks through the door quotes something from the [WSJ Magazine's] luxury story."
US Media Consulting will be managing pan-regional buys made from Florida for the Latin American region. The Spanish/Portuguese version of the newspaper, the Wall Street Journal Americas, can currently be found in La Nación (Argentina), El Mercurio (Chile), El Tiempo (Colombia), El Financiero (Costa Rica), Listín Diario (Dominican Republic), El Comercio (Ecuador), La Prensa Gráfica (El Salvador), Siglo XXI (Guatemala), La Prensa (Honduras), La Prensa (Nicaragua), La Prensa (Panama), El Comercio (Peru), El Nacional (Venezuela), Portafolio (Colombia) and Valor Economico (Brazil).
