US Media Consulting Sells First Ads for Song Pop

The history-making efforts of US Media Consulting in terms of commercializing one of the world's hottest social games.
MIAMI (September 4, 2012) — US Media Consulting, a leader in media services for companies targeting Brazil and Latin America, has sold the first ads ever for Song Pop.
Launched in spring 2012, Song Pop is a musical trivia game with 17 million active users around the world. People play it on Facebook or by downloading an app for it for either Android or iOS phones—and recently Song Pop surpassed Pinterest on the list of the most downloaded Facebook apps. Even Mark Zuckerberg has praised it.
“I first noticed Song Pop on Facebook,” explains Sergio Kligin, Sales Director and Country Manager, Brazil, for US Media Consulting. While he found the game to be fun, Kligin also found out that Song Pop has more than 4 million users in Brazil. He also knew that Brazil is the #2 Facebook market in the world, trailing only the United States. “When I put it all together, I thought that we had an interesting new way for advertisers to reach consumers, an approach that hadn’t really been tried before in Brazil,” he explains.
Kligin and his team worked closely with Ogilvy & Mather, Brazil to approach the market with Song Pop. In fact, Kligin even arranged to have Mathieu Nouzareth, CEO of FreshPlanet—the firm that created Song Pop—visit Brazil to meet with media agencies and potential advertisers.
The hard work paid off quickly. Burger King Brazil debuted its ad on Song Pop in early August, drawing an impressive response. Since then, US Media Consulting has gone on to sign even more advertisers, including Skyy Vodka and Claro, one of Brazil’s top telecommunications firms. In fact, most of September is already booked.
Although social game advertising has been a growing trend in the United States, it was almost unheard of in Brazil. With the powerful growth of Song Pop and the results it’s delivering for advertisers, Kligin and his team may end up changing the game of online advertising in Brazil.
